Description
It is complicated, and perhaps the better lesson to learn from Pétain is that, if you find yourself as a the hero of a nation, the savior of a nation, the greatest living soldier of a nation, maybe don’t take all of that goodwill and turn yourself into a totalitarian dictator that collaborates with the Nazis. Just don’t transform yourself from the Lion of Verdun into the Villain of Vichy, it is really that simple.
